Yamaha carb cleaner is the very best out there.
Its quite expensive but it works and lasts a long time.
Because of this its probably not worth buying unless you have a lot of carbs to do but it is the best as anyone who's used it will testify.

+1 on the yamaha carb cleaner.. I think it retails for 11 bucks give or take. But it is well worth the dough. I had some really bad gummed up carbs, used the carb cleaner to allow them to soak for a few hours, came back and the the cleaner did most of the work for me..

As the 'ol adage says, " You get what you pay for " and  the yamaha carb cleaner is just about top dog.

You can get it at just about any motorcycle dealership with a sales department.

Patience and attention to detail.

Doesn't matter what chemical you use if you lack the above.

Well said.  A lot of folks expect an overnight soaking in a "good" cleaner to do all the work.

The Yamaha cleaner is good enough to actually be all thats needed most of the time.
Its also bio-degradable and, as far as I know, doesn't attack seals. (like the A-1 ad, 'yeah, its that good')

Only at Yamaha dealer, although many will try and sell you something else as a lot don't stock it ( until they have used it and found how good it is) Many other shops use it but don't like to admit it (I used it in Suzuki and Honda dealers)

I've bought it from both, honda and yamaha dealerships.

There is a whole thread on simple green and how well it works. Cheap and non toxic.

i looked for yamaha carb cleaner a long time.  resorted to berrymans to get my bike to run for the first time.  then i found simple green.

now my bike runs well

a lot of things contributed but i give all the credit to simple green.  i dont know why they're friends they just are.  my bike is also simple and green.  always rinse well.

I have yet to completely tear down my carbs, But I noticed that in the Tutorial that I found on this site -the guy uses Berryman's carb dip.

Anyone know the pros/cons using berryman's vs. simple green?

Simple Green does not eat rubber or plastic. Berrymans is great stuff also, but it stinks. They had to take the really good stuff out of these things. Now they barely work.
