I dont understand the price ranges on these bikes....is this just a super score?  Sometimes these bikes command high prices *ahem* ebay *ahem* and other times they are dirt cheap.

That's exactly how I usually console myself.  If you're not the first person to see these ads and show up at the person's house, then it's already gone before you can even get upset about it. 

That's how I got my K1 for $250.  A former member of the sohc4 group posted his bike for sale (this was back in the Greenspun message board days, so not nearly as much activity), and I jumped on it immediately, even though the bike was in Denver and I was in Oregon.  Two days later I drove down in a friend's van and snatched it up!

This would have been a fairly common asking price seven or eight years ago, but things have changed.  And yes, ebay has probably had at least a little to do with it.  People see what something will sell for on ebay by an experienced seller with a solid reputation on a national market, and suddenly they think they're sitting on a gold mine and expect to get that same price by listing their bike locally on a free classified site.
