My first long...esh ride!
« on: May 02, 2008, 03:38:21 PM »
I just got back from putting over 2k miles on the CBR the purpose of which was to visit the Barber Motorcycle museum in Birmingham. After visiting there, it was up to NW Tenn. to visit my hometown. Rode no interstates on the way up and had a great time. It was my first time out of the state of Fla. and the first to live off a bike for a week. Max miles in one day was about 600.

It was tempting to take the 750,  but I decided to go with the newer bike. My back will hopefully recover in a week or so.  ;D

If you haven't been to the Barber museum, do yourself a favor and go. Plan on a whole day...believe me. This place is like "Mecca" to those of us who love bikes. They have a beautifully restored sandcast and almost every other type of Honda.  :o

The bike ran great. Except for one near encounter with a buzzard who wanted that last morsel of dead meat and one stubborn dog who must have liked the smell of my boots, the ride was perfect. Despite my fears, I didn't see a single deer.

The temps ranged from the low 40's to the high 80's with a small hailstorm thrown in for good measure...peasize but it sure gets your attention.  :o

So riding season is here....let's all get out and enjoy ourselves....safely.  :)

WOW, nice bikes!
It sure is nice to be able to ride again although I haven't been able to do 2K yet. Congrats techy, I'll bet you were loving every minute of it except maybe the hailstorm.
There are old bikers and there are bold bikers but there are very few old, bold bikers.

Not doing what you can to make your bike ride-able during the best riding months of the year kind of defeats the purpose of owning it in the first place.
