Where Can I Find Reproduction Alberts-style Mirrors?
« on: April 28, 2008, 07:00:37 PM »

I saw this mirror at the Oley, PA Antique Motorcycle Swap Meet last Friday.  I want one.  The owner (who wouldn't sell it) told me that it's an Alberts-style repro.  Where can I find one?

Thanks,
Ed

Ya know i did some work on this guy new Triumph Bon last year and i think he had something close to it. He bought all of his "cafe racer" gear from triumph on line. I guess they have an accessories catalog.
Try there.
Good luck
Yep, i have issues with this sort of stuff.

Doesn't have a front view but they're good quality stainless.

Morini,

That mirror's definitely the Halcyon mirror.  I found a front view on another site, and it's a dead-on match.  Problem is, they're $60 each plus whatever shipping costs from England.

My wife bought these for her bike and they are really nice quality, but expensive.  We found them online from somewhere in the US, but for the life of me, I can't find them again.  I'll check tonight to see if I still have an invoice.  They have "Made in England" engraved in the stem.

The cheap ones aren't worth it unless you only want them for how they look.

I got mine from here and I couldn't be happier.  One of the mirrors were shattered when I got it and they shipped me another one asap with no questions asked.  Very nice folks to work with.  I also was concerned about the price but after a buddy of mine bought the cheap ones and the chrome started going after the first season I didn't regret my decision.  Great quality stainless.  I'd rather buy one high priced part than have to buy 3 cheap ones.

Has anyone used these:

They're certainly cheaper than the Halcyon mirrors while not being as cheap as the JP Cycles ones.

Andy,

What don't you like about the mirrors?  I'm leaning heavily towards them and don't want to buy junk!

Thanks,
Ed

Hey Ed,
There is no problem with the quality of the mirror for me but rather what I dont like personally is the added width to the handlebars. I was going for a sleeker look and adding a small round mirror at each side makes the bike/bars wider. Just my personal preference. The mirrors themselves work well.

cheers
Andy

I've got Napoleon mirrors on my bike and the problem is that they go out of adjustment constantly. These English items appear to have a tension adjustment that should overcome that annoyance

That's odd. :-\  Are they loose at the handlebar mount or at the mirror pivot?

Mine have always stayed right where I aim them.  That is except when I'm working down low on the front of the bike and I stand up and smack them with the top of my head! >:( ;D

Loose at the mirror.
They're ok to about 7000RPM, then the left one starts to wonder.
