cleaning dirt out of tank

what is the best way to clean dirt out of a tank...it isnt rusty.....but I just want to make sure it is clean before I put it back on with the clean carbs and new inlined filter.....my grandfather said that the 4th carb was so gunked up that it was awful.

G`day mate
If its loose dirt and you have access to an air compressor, hold the tank upside down and get  someone to hold an airline to the petcock hole, shake and roll the tank around and the airflow will help drag the dirt out of the filler neck.
