500 seat on a 550
« on: May 01, 2008, 11:10:24 PM »
I have a 500 seat (year unknown if it matters) and plan to sacrifice it for (foam) modifications for my '74 550. The 550 has a seat lock, the 550 does not. I thought rather than mod the 500 seat for the lock I'd use a 500 frame latch and be done with it.

Question is whether the frame side of the latch is a direct bolt on affair. All the other measurements I've checked are the same and the pans look very similar except where the latches are. I know it's not brain surgery but I like the elegant (lazy) way out.

thoughts?

The 550 has a seat lock, the 550 does not.

Poor guy.  The mental anguish he's going through with these internal conflicts.  :'(

...

I swear I've swapped seats between my 72 Cb500 and my 74 Cb550 just by moving the seat assembly.  Been quite a while, though. ::)

That's nice... go ahead, pick on the disabled!

Enjoy Hell... :)

Yeah, the 500 seat has a hook-like latch and the mounting surface is just a bit different. No place to put the owners manual either.
