Ever since seeing one of these in the flesh in a vintage bike museum in California last year I've been hankering after one of my own. Last week I'd saved up some money for a new bike and was about to buy a CB750 F2 as I hadn't spotted one of the K series within my budget, but after spotting an ad for a bike for sale in the Midlands, some 300 miles away I took a chance.
The bike is a 1976 CB750 K6, having done 26k miles from new and only 6k in the UK since it was imported from Huston, Texas in 1992. I was expecting a rusty bike with a poor running engine, but when I got more pics and details it sounded mint, apart from the exhaust which will be replaced this week along with fork boots replaced as they should be on these K6 forks....
So after a 600 mile round trip on Friday and lots of Bank Holiday traffic jams, I took my new baby out for a ride yesterday. My 10 miles tester ride turned into a 65 mile trip, down country lanes and twisting coast roads. It is an absolute stunner, sounds great (thanks to the extra holes in the pipes!) and runs like a dream. Kicks first time and is truly wonderful, with tons of character, if slightly less than modern handling.
So a couple of pics I thought I'd share from the garage!
