Please do, it may be handy for all of us to know how that is done.

Ok I will. It will be a couple of weeks before I get around to working on the side panel. I am helping my mom do a lot of work around her house for the next 2 to 3 weeks. Thats keeping my weekends full up.

Have you considered plastic adhesive for repairing your side cover? I'm a huge fan of a product called "Problem Plastic Repair". I'ts made by SEM I think. I use it for all types of plastic repair since it works on almost every type of plastic. Its easy to sand and it never let me down in the 8 years I've been using it.

Depending on the plastic and how bad the break is sometimes I do use other adhesive's to fix things. I have put upper fairings back to like new after they were broken into pieces in wrecks.

Doesn't Northern Tool sell a 'plastic welder"? I was thinking of buying one. Does it work? Is it worth buying?

I would have to see wich one it is. I have had mine for going on 7 years. I have repaired busted plastic from wrecked sport bikes and saved some guys serious cash. I have not regretted buying mine one bit. The first one I bought was from harbor frieght and it sucked. I cant remember where I bought this one to be honest.

Could you post a pic of your plastic welder?  Sounds like a good investment for those working with body panel a lot, and knowing which ones are good ones would be very helpful.

cheers
