New Rider, New Bike cb750F1
« on: August 16, 2005, 07:27:00 PM »
Hello all, just purchased my first bike the 75 cb750f1.  It's in ok condition runs and sounds great, got it for $900.  I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello and glad to say that I am very excited to get into motorcycling, Im 22 years old and love the look of the Nortons and Triumphs,(my dad rode a 750 combat when he was younger) but my budget doesn't work with these, but I hope to enjoy this F1.  I really wanted a K model, but things have it, I'm impatient and I wanted a bike.  So anything that anyone suggests for a new rider on this bike will be well appreciated.
Thanks,
Leo

Nothing wrong with the F model. In some ways people actually prefer them over the Ks. The f1 I guess has a good head on it for engine mods.

Welcome to the club ang get ready to hear sandcast and ebay jokes.

Don't worry about buying the "wrong" bike.  You're only 22 so there's plenty of time to amass a collection of every bike you ever wanted!

Ride the F1, learn to look after it, love it - and then go out and find a REAL bike (CB500/4)...

welcome and good luck with your bike. Be aware of how heavy these bikes are. You will find that out in a hurry in a tight corner or a quick stop.

Protect your head.

Yes, advice taken, i already dropped it in my slippery driveway, it's going to take a while to get used to.

From someone who has had British machinery for many years, be very happy with your F.
I still have a BSA Thunderbolt but it has limited travel these days (60mph on the expressway boils the oil.)
