which fork oil for a honda cb 125s?
« on: May 02, 2008, 03:45:12 PM »
Hello all.
In the workshop manual of my honda cb 125s only is written: Fork oil: ATF or equivalent fork oil. Went to the dealer and found Castrol fork oil SAE 10, SAE 15 and SAE 20. Which one should I use? Which is the difference on performance between them? Thank you.

I was told by my dealer that 10W is closer to ATF.  I think 15W may be to heavy for that light bike.  Please correct me if I am wrong members...

The fork oil manufacturers used to have an "ATF Weight" fork oil.  PJ1 and Bel Ray.
Go metric, every inch of the way!

Use ATF, its cheaper and all thats needed.
Using more expensive oil is just a waste of money in damper rod forks.
On some competition types a synthetic oil reduces 'stiction' of seals/bushings but no on a CB125S
(conventional style and USD cartridge forks must have better, specific oil or they don't work right)
