Pool question....hey this is the Open Forum right?

Well, now that summer is heading this way I have question about another summer past time other than riding.
My inground vinyl pool got ripped due to my drop in stairs starting to breakdown and having sharp edges. The stairs look like fibreglass and have definitely seen better days. Anyone familiar with repairing these types of things? I looked at new ones but they START at $600
I assume it is just like any other fibreglass job (not that I have EVER fibreglassed before!). Any ideas on the best way to do this and suggestions to keep it from happening again? I would like to put some form of gel coat on afterwards to be a little friendlier to my vinyl liner...
Thoughts please...
Thanks in advance,
Dennis

Rubber coat or use rubber spacers on the side that makes contact. My grandparents did this with the metal steps in their vinyl lined pool.

Try the stuff used on pliers handles. It comes in a tall, narrow can for dipping, but can be brushed on. I just got some to fix, of all things, the ear pieces of eyeglasses(puppy chewed).

Hey those are both great ideas...any idea of the name of the pliers stuff? Likely won't be the same name up here anyways but will give me a starting point on where to hunt it down.
Thanks,
Dennis

You can get that stuff at any auto parts store. Usually in the tool isle. I've used it and had great results. Good idea 333.

Unfortunately, I'm at the beach, and it's at home, so the name is unavailable. I can tell you that the Home Cheapo had it in the paint isle(?)
