I guess it's time to introduce myself.
« on: May 04, 2008, 06:25:30 PM »
Hi, I'm Todd.  I'm 28 and live in Sarasota, Florida.  I've posted on here a few times and figure I better introduce myself.  My first and current thoroughbred is my 2007 Triumph T100.  I post on that forum under the name TCL.  I took my Triumph apart the day I bought it new and did some cool stuff to it, but I do not want to completely chop up a perfect bike.

That is where my obsession with cafe stuff started I guess.  I got on craigs list and got obsessing with finding a good bike to cafe.  I bought a perfect '79 cb650 2 months ago that had sat for awhile and was not running.  It is very similar to my Triumph and too heavy, so I bought it with the intention of getting it running and reselling it so that my next project is free.  With some help from this forum, I got the carbs cleaned up and she is ready for a good home (check ebay this week). I feel bad to see her go, but I just can't justify keeping her.

Meanwhile, I found an impounded CB400 on ebay last week and picked her up Wednesday.  I have stripped it to the frame and opened up the crank case this morning.  She is in rough shape, but everything inside of the motor is pristine, so I plan on doing every dastardly thing to her that I have wanted to do to my Triumph but have been to much of a gentleman to do.  I'll post pics periodically of my progress and may need a place to stay when my girl kicks me out for spending to much time in the garage.

Nice to meet you.

Nice bikes. I pick up some stuff from Randy's Cycles down by the airport when I am in Sarasota.

Welcome! Nice bikes! What bars do you have on the Triumph? They look very comfy yet low...

cheers

Those are Norman Hyde M Bars on the Triump.  I rode from Florida to Kansas on them and could not tie my shoes because I could not make a full fist the second day.

But how are they on anything less than halfway across the country?  I really like the look of those bars.

Oh I'm not bashing them at all.  They are very comfortable and the bike dives into turns much better than with more upright bars.  Mine are actually mounted upside down.  I would recommend them anyday.

I did some looking around, they look like a tamer, smoother looking clubman.  I found them in 1" and 7/8".
Here they are on my favorite modern bike

Yeah, he's got them right side up.  Those Ducs are hot bikes but a little pricey for me right now.
