The friend that i bought the bike from dug up some old pictures of it from before I owned it.
She really was close to the road and I was dumb to strip it down.....I have learned SSSSOOOOooooo much since then.
Hopefully one day this bike is done.

I dont blame you for wanting to ride her.  You have a great build going on here and I cant wait to see the final outcome.

Love what you're doing with this beast.

A quick question: how does the Vapor speedo work?  Does it have a Hall effect sensor/magnet?
And I assume the tach wires into the coils?

Vapor is great
uses a magnet for the speedo and the tach is and induction pick up on coils

Well in an attempt to get my butt in gear my plan is now to put the stock motor in the bike to get it going and on the road.
after that V2 will be the full race yoshi motor that i have for a different bike and then V3 with monster.....but at this rate motorcycles might not even have wheels when i get there....lol

Got some cool carbs for this project.
I will be soda blasting and rebuilding them soon.
One of the chokes is broken but alittle JB should sort that....unless someone has a spare

Hope to have the motor painted and installed by next weekend

This has been a great read, I've been going back through some of my favorite threads lately needing that "boost" and forgot how much I like this bike, very nice work.

All blasted and washed.
Anyone have an extra chock knob?  Or know of a good place to get rebuild gaskets?

Mostly because I cant help myself.  Im waiting on gaskets for the mikunis but thought that it would be fun to try some dellortos as well.
Thought that it would be cool to have a mikuni set on one bike and the dellortos on the other.  I really would like to have the manifolds remade...

Best laid plans......well I thought that the weber-dellortos-mikunis were all the same mounts....guess I was wrong
Will ill still clean these up and see what I can do with them

Scored a ARD mag set up cheap
It needs some work but the important bits are there.  Also have a pair of working tractor mags on they way to mix and match the needed parts
The ARD mag is a fairbanks unit that was milled to fit the CB750 mount.
Goal is to have a working mag thats not a grand....wish me luck

School and my CBX have been taking up most of my time but would like to get a motor in this thing asap and get this project in gear

On a side note.....anyone have any options of installing a side kick stand on a frame with no brackets and has already been powder coated?

All rebuilt and cleaned.
They are not going to be run on this build, they are going on a set or weber manifolds (that actually work with these carbs) and used on a cool period cafe bike.
Cleared out alot of other stuff from my plate to try and focus on this bike.

Okay, Jag, so WTF happened with all the drama around id'ing and getting gaskets for the Mikuni-Solex carbs? Last I heard the supplier said they couldn't help you. Were they right, or wrong? And what did the carbs finally turn out to be? RR

well wolfcreek was not able to help me at all.  They kinda knew what they were but said that they will not deal with motorcycle parts.....SOOooooo

From what i can gather some people call them type Q but not many.......
They are 36mm and a completely different casting then the 40s so they dont fit where a weber or dellorto would go, but they are smaller and lighter so its give and take.

There are ZERO parts out there for them.  i would kill for a set of stacks. and dont even get me started on gaskets....

http://www.fiatplus.com/home.php
These guys seem to be the most help so far.  They have no idea what the carbs are but some of the fiat gaskets look like they will work, and ive read that the 32mm fiat/lancia stuff will work on these.

I have talked to
sudco
mikuni motorsports
mikuni international
fiat dealers
lancia resto guys
wolfcreek
some carb guy in Australia
The guy that made the manifold, Branch
Few old racers
some harley guys because they run a single on the sportsters from time to time back in the day

Im ordering the parts from that link and it should be all i need to get rolling
I think that there are filters that are available but not stacks

How complete/dirty are yours?

Okay. Roger that... For some reason I mistakenly thought you were using your Mikuni-Solexes.

Not sure how mine are internally. The outside could use a good sodablasting and detailing, but I have a feeling that the insides are pretty good. Plus they have that cool Jerry Branch cast air filter and two-piece intake manifold.

Guess I'm gonna have to break them out from storage and see if I can get a gasket kit since these are the more "normal" size carbs. I'll let you know how it goes when I get around to it. RR

Well I scored a RC unit.  Actually two so if anyone has a kawi and wants one PM me.
Since school and such are taking up most of my free time I have not gotten much done on the bikes

I figured I would mock some stuff up just to see and light a fire under my ass.
As soon as classes are done the plan is to get the bottom end built and installed.  I have all the parts i need.
