Looking great man!! Just wondering if you would be willing to make another seat like that except from a 550 pan? Reason i ask is because i dont have the welding skills needed to pull that off.

I don't have the welding skills either, which is why a buddy did the welding. Welding it on was not a big issue, get the tank set (and fastened) on the pan how you want it and start tacking it on. The only part that caused a little trouble was where the taillight plate is welded in. That part of the tank looked like it was in ok shape until the hot metal hit it and blew a bunch of holes through. I needed to build it up to meet the taillight back plate, you can see that in the photos. The real work was the body work. It was a fun project and I am happy to be done with it. I wish I had another bike and the time to do another, it is kind of addictive for me. As far as doing one for someone else, not going to happen. As I mentioned before, it would be neat to make a mold of it though

figured it wouldnt hurt to ask..can always use your pics as reference to do my own..since well i wouldnt be putting the tail light on im going to be doing dual tails ala nightster using the signal lights as the tail and brake lights as well.

Man, what a great thread. I know what I'm going to do with my rear fender now.
Really looks good. Alwasy like the metallic oranges - they realy seem to suit these bikes.

Just can't get over how well this turned out. Why don't people do it this way more often?

My wife thinks this awesome, her first bike was a CB350 and she recognized that tank right away.

Thanks for all of the kind words. I have about 90 miles in the saddle now and I think I got it right, it is prefectly comfortable. The new seat pad ended up being the same height as the factory foam (appx 2 1/2"), but this stuff doesn't compress to the pan like the 34 year old stuff I removed

It looks great with or without the rear fender. I'd probably say I prefer it with though I think the license plate probably provides some protection without the fender mounted.

Have you thought about any black accents on the seat to match the tank?

Thought about it, but not sure what I would do. The tank stripes are under the clear coat so I would want anything on the cowl to match.

Great action photos and compliments to the photographer! Now that I see the bike in motion I would get rid of the front mudguard...brings the whole look down IMHO

Apart from this looking very very sharp!

Now we should all try and get some kind of action shots on our bikes - or at least sitting on the bike to give an idea of scale.

Thanks. My wife took the photos, it is amazing how dragging the shutter makes 10 mph look fast

. If anyone was curious, she took them at 1/40 sec panning the camera as I rode by slowly. I have been trying to decide what I want to do with the front, I may take that rubber piece off.

Nice alteration, I personally think you did well to keep the rear chrome guard.
I abreviated the front guard on one of my CB360's (actually it was snapped off by the PO) and moved it around the front wheel until it looked more centred, something to think about for your front realignment.

While the bike was out of service I took a little time to modernize the fuse situation. I picked up a blade type fuse block at Advance Auto for $2.98. I was a little concerned about the height of it, but it clears the side cover by a mile. I made a little plate out of aluminum to bolt the new block in the original location and used a label maker to identify each slot. It works great.

Clean looking mod on the fuses. I also agree that you shold modify that front fender - the rest of the bike is so smooth, it just does not flow.

But what a job you did.... really inspiring!

Looks great, love the color. Very clean.

But, I must say that I REALLY enjoyed the green that was on the bike before. I'm a lover of vintage metal flake.
