cb350f headlight assembly
« on: May 05, 2008, 11:29:48 PM »
I've been getting very close to getting my 73 CB350f on the road lately, however there are a few things left to be done. One of these includes finding a replacement headlight assembly.

My problem is I'm worried if I just buy a generic assembly, I'll start running into a whole lot of problems making it work with my electrical system. The other thing is, if I am just looking for a universal system, I'm not sure which size I should be looking for. As far as I've read, it seems its a strange size, so I'm not sure if I should be looking for a 7 inch assembly or something else.

If anyone has replaced their headlights, could you give me an idea what was involved and where you got your new assembly. I'd rather not spend weeks trying to track an original down, and would like to be able to just order something online and get this taken care of as quickly as possible. Any recommended sites that carry them would be great too. Thanks

Iain

Candlepower has a nice H4 lens/reflector which fits nicely in the 350 f headlight bucket.  Their model 8022 costs about $46. You can get a  45/45 watt bulb suitable for the lower power output of the 350 alternator for $9.00.  Call them at 416-766-2327.  My bike and I have been very happy with the unit.

I use a 55/60 on my 350F.  I don't burn the headlight during the day and never have a problem with charging.

That sounds like an interesting part. My stock lamp throws a decent amount of lumens after I relayed it, but it seems most of them are scattered right in front of the bike, not much out on the road where they belong. I would definitely like to try something else.
Are there provisions for the mounting screws and adjuster?

thanks for all the replies guys

CB500_k2, I'll have to give them a shout, I'd still like to replace the whole unit, but this gives me the option of just picking up a new bucket and having a reliable source for the rest.

tinman25, if you want to check that out and grab a few pictures for me, I'd be very interested in what you may have. Mines rusted out inside so doesn't reflect the light out, and the bucket has some cracks, but the bulb in it works great and I haven't had any problems really with it. I'm in Ontario Canada, so hopefully shipping wouldn't be too much to make it not worth it.

If anyone has any suggestions for whole assemblies they think would be able to handle the huge amount of clutter in the headlight, but would still be reasonable for a CB350, give me some links and I'll check them out. Hopefully I'll be able to find something worth recommending to anyone else who in my situation.
