Hoe do I figure the proper length of spark plug leads?

A guy was looking at my bike and told me that the spark plug wires are “way too long.”  I’m guessing the PO replaced the wires at some point.  They are copper core wires, with NGK caps, and they do droop quite a bit.  At the risk of asking a stupid question, how do I know how long the wires should be to get the proper resistance?  Bike is a '72 CB500.

If they are copper core wires, changing the length won't make much difference.

For example 18 AWG copper wire has 0.00751 ohms per foot.

Radio resistance wire, on the other hand, is a different story; about 5000- 10000 ohms/foot.
