I may have a chance to get a seat from a 550K with a production date of 7/ 77.

Anyone know if this would be a direct bolt on to my '74 550K?

I have a 500 seat (year?) that I'm having second thoughts about cutting up to make a solo seat. I think it's salvageable and might be useful to someone who needs it. Cutting it up isn't totally out of the question as of yet but I want to explore my options.

Also, if anyone has a 550 seat in (not too) ratty shape and interested in a possible deal I'd like to hear about it. Maybe the foam is fair and the pan is solid but the upholstery is bad.

The 77 seat will leave a gap between the tank and seat.  77's have longer tanks than the 74.   And, you will need the grab rail from the 77, too.

Seat pans are different between the two.

Thanks TT. You just saved me some cash. I was a bit of an authority on Chryslers and (and other cars) from the 60's but now that I've gotten into these old Hondas I am an underling again.

I tried buying a 78 seat for my 76...

It might be usable, but not worth the effort, hinge on wrong side, no latch.

It looks good sitting on the frame.

I'd be interested in the 500 seat... I don't want to chop up my good original for an idea that I have for my project.

My 500 seat has an odd latch on it. It's a piece that looks like flat stock with a hook on the end. It's clearly OEM and part of the reason I'm having second thoughts about using it is because I haven't decided how I want to address that. It's actually in pretty fair shape.
