Batteries 12N14-A2 vs 12N14-A3 What is the difference?
« on: May 11, 2008, 09:07:20 AM »
boing for the *last* item I need before I put all the parts back togeather.  But, searching on line I see these two batteries, one an A2 and one an A3.  The dimessions look the same.  So, what is the difference?

I see I can get a fair price for one with acid and reasonable shipping on E-bay.  I'm not sure if I can get one locally, being in the mountians as it were.  oh, '78 CB750F if it makes any difference.

Thanks.

I doubt they could ship it with acid in it at least by some carriers.

Could be as minor as post location, overflow tube location. Not a problem to some , but not worth messing with your harness if you want to stay stock IMO..

http://www.yuasabatteries.com/pdfs/2008yuaapp.pdf you could try this, part way down it shows how the coding works, you may have the last letter/numbers the wrong way around.

I **think** the A2/A3 thing has to do with the terminal post polarity.

The microfiche shows 12N14-3A

12N14-3A:   side post battery   (conventional)

YB14L-A2:    top post battery   (Micron)

YTX14AHL-BS:  top post battery     (no maintenance, high performance)

Get either of the "top post" batteries.  They will ship dry and you will need to activate them. You need a 1.5-2 amp charger to juice them before using.
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame
