another crazy prices thread

this is the fuel tank i'm bidding on right now. 2 years ago this month i purchased one that was a bit nicer with no rust inside for 35 dollars! it's cool that more people are appreciating the old hondas but bloody hell! it makes it alot harder for those of us with not alot of money to keep our bikes going. only reason i'm replacing the tank is i dropped my freshly sanded and primed tank last night and it hit the corner of my lift and not only but a bad crease in it but tore a little hole too.

How hard is it to take a photo closer to the item? Especially if the seller is saying that it is in fact crappier than it looks. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Supply and demand boys.  They aren't getting any easier to find and more and more of them are getting wrecked/trashed every day.  Compared to a $20k Harley insecurity fulfiller, they are still a good buy.

Yup.
I remember back when I was in highschool in the mid '80's, the old Brit bikes were practically free....
Now try to find even a basket case Commando for under $3000.

We all get ripped on ebay once in a while.

I got back into  CB750s about 4 years ago. Since them I've seen prices increase dramatically for good parts. The junk parts will always sell at junk prices, but the good stuff has increased in quantum leaps.
This newfound interest in the old CBs has taken a lot of the "hobby" part out of it and made it more expensive to play.
However, I got back into the bikes again as the prices of cars went insane and televising things like Barrett-Jackson didn't help matters.
I couldn't play in the area of $2500 steering wheels, $7500 fenders, $2000 trunk lid finish panels. The bikes could still be had for seemingly decent coin. How far the march upwards continues - the market will decide.

As long as someone will pay the asking price, it will continue. And for each asking price received, the next guy says "Hummmm....wonder if I can get more......"

You should have filed a claim with Paypal as soon as you thought things might be going wrong.
If the item had been shipped the claim could easily be cancelled but if you still hadn't received it withing 30 days, Paypal will refund all your money.

Try building a 40,s or earlier Indian, or 20,s & earlier HD..or a ducati mach 1 single...and 750 stuff will seem cheaper.. ;D

Seriously thouigh, your chances of finding a near rideable 750 in the wild are still pretty damn good.. you dont have to search too far or long..
