1977 CB400f carb pieces
« on: May 12, 2008, 11:04:18 AM »
I put my '77 CB400F carbs back together today, but there is one tiny ball bearing and one tiny spring that I can't find a place for.  I am sure they came off of carb 1 or 2, since I left 3 and 4 intact until I got 1 and 2 back together.  I think the parts go somewhere on the linkage arm on the left of carb on that ties the choke valves to the throttle rod.  They are not part of the individual carb.

The ball bearing is this big:  O

The spring is that big around as well, but about 1/4" in length.  It is slightly smaller than the spring on the idle adjustment screws, which are all accounted for.

Any ideas?

Sounds to me like the spring and ball that fit inside the throttle sleeve arm.  The arm that sits inside the throttle shaft on the top part of the carb and moves the throttle sleeve up and down in conjunction with the linkage.

It's for the fast idle linkage when on choke, fits to carb 1 (Left hand carb) have a look at the parts diagram and you will see where it fits.
