Grew up on a farm in Illinois and loved 'em as a kid.  Now in Oklahoma and wouldn't know where to look.    :-\

My uncle always seems to find a ton of them behind his house! He used to make some nice cash selling them to the local bar...

I haven't been out yet this year. The weather hasn't been right yet.
It needs to be rainy for a few days then nice and warm, like high 70s before we start to find em up here near Chicago.
I went out last year with my cousins for a few hours and we didn't find any.
But we did find a farm house selling fresh asparagus.
luckily my cousins other uncle had found about 4 bags full a few days prior.
We feasted on his fortune instead!

The best is when you soak them in whole milk for a hour at least.
Then batter them with a mixture of corn starch and flour.
Then Fry em up in a pan full of butter till golden brown.

MMMMM MMMM! if done right they taste like they have been kissed with maple syrup!

Good luck! ;D

I just toss 'em in a pan with some melted butter and fry them plain... They almost taste like steak that way...

Damn.. Now I'm hungry!  :)

I found a big orange one near Dillon Colorado last summer. It was about 8" and looked tasty. If I had been brave I would be waking up from the fourth dimension right about now.
So anyone have a picture of a Morel?

I tried to put a picture here but alas I have no idea how. I resized the picture so it was small enough and then went to additional options and browsed and found the picture. Never did find the upload button. I an guessing here, but when I hit "insert image" button, I should place drive location of file within the brackets?

My sister found one in the state park she works in (she's a Ranger).  Said it was about 6" tall, and it tasted delicious  :D

Morels kinda look like brains on a stem.  I've never seen one personally, but I know they grow on my parents' wooded property in Tennessee.

I've never seen one while out hunting.

Here in Maine we're approaching Spring Oyster season.  They're fleshy colored and grow on dead standing Popl (Eastern Aspen).  Yum!

The best around here are the spring and fall oysters, chanterelles, black trumpets, miatake (I picked a 5lb one 2 falls ago), hedgehogs, and giant puffballs.

There are lots of other edible ones that just plain taste gross  :D
You can't make too much popcorn, but you can definately eat too much popcorn.

Wow, never seen one fresh before.  They've always been dried out...
