Hello all,

When I sold my cb550f I felt a huge void in my life.  And it wasn't filled until I had another vintage Honda in the shed (er, basement actually).

It isn't running yet, and it will probably cost me more than it's worth to get it going, but... it's cute, and I'm a pushover that way.










You can see that I've got some good helpers too.

What a great looking little bike 

I've got a soft spot for small displacement  still take my little XL80 out when no one is looking 

... The shot of the kids washing it is priceless. If you ever want to sell it, that would make a great add pic. Also makes the bike look big.

Haha thanks Matt.  Ya, my attitude on displacement has changed quite a bit from when I was younger.  Now I am perfectly content with 650cc's for a "big bike".

This 70cc will be limited to putting up to the store and back, but still, there is something really pure about a motorcycle that I can lift by myself.   

Right now I am debating throwing in a 120cc Lifan (Chinese Honda-clone engine).  There are a lot of guys who make the swap and the engines are cheap.  It would look the same - but it wouldn't be stock any more.  On the other hand it would be a brand new engine and a little extra oomph for a heavy guy like me.  Decisions decisions...

Anyways, I'm glad you like it!

ps - if I get it running good, the kids will likely end up riding it themselves.

Just tell your kids not to use the scotch-brite side of the pad to clean the tank.....

I'd go for one of the Lifan engines, too.  Lotsa stuff around for 'em, and, as you say - cheap!  Even electric-start!

But, I'd definitely keep all the stock parts, and not make any changes that were irreversible!

What a great little machine.  If I had that, I'd probably be commuting on it every day!  I, too, have a soft spot (in the head) for tiddlers!

Haha, you noticed that too eh.  I had to keep telling my boys which side of the sponge to use.  I finally decided that they were either doing it on purpose or they are colour blind

Cool, thanks Kirk.  Unfortunatley my work commute invloves almost 100kms of highway driving (110-130kms/h) so I can't commute on it.  The cb550f was up to the job though.  I really miss that bike.  I spent $7000+ on my new Kawasaki and no one gives it a second look.  That old Honda was a definite head turner though... something about those classic bikes that always evokes a thumbs up.
