I've had that happen on various bikes. I find it gets worse when the oil hasn't been changed in a while. Also, during longer rides, sometimes my shifting becomes a little lazy, so those false neutrals become more common.
yes me too, especially 3-4, I put it down to lazy/fast shifting, I was thinking of adjusting the linkage so lever is lower down, my ankles aren't as manouverable as they were edbikerii - your comment about oil needed changing is interesting as mine appears to have got worse with time.

All add up to false neutrals. When you get a chance to see a transmission up close on one of these bikes you will see how this can happen , Matt.
