Hey all,
I'm new to the SOHC Honda world... My 1st bike was a '94 CBR600F2 (never should've sold it). Now, w/ gas reaching >$4.00/gal, I thought it was time to get another bike, but didn't want the new bike payment (especially insurance). Luckily, I found a nice 1976 CB750K for sale on my local VW enthusiasts forum (
MIchigan Volkswagen Enthusiasts). I know my fair-share about VW's, but next to nothing about the variety of CB750 models... A few friends had/have CB's (750 + 550), but I haven't seen one up close until I went to look at mine before purchasing it.
A few details on my bike... I test rode it @ ~13333 mi on the clock. It rides/shifts/ runs pretty good for a 32 year old bike. Only major issues are the separated plug wire/cap, and the kill-switch/starter-button are inoperable/jury-rigged (respectively). The turn signals blink slow @ low RPM, and the petcock leaks, but other than that, it starts easily, and runs relatively well.
I plan to fix those few things, clean it up a bit, and ride it as often as the MI weather allows this season. I'm also going to be developing a plan of attack to "personalize" it to my own tastes over the winter... The basic upgrades I hope to find info/advice on are front dual-disc upgrade, rear-disc upgrade, and exhaust/carb/filter combinations as well as carb tuning/synching/jetting. I also plan on "cleaning-up" the looks of it a little, to give it some of my own character. I guess my tastes in vintage bikes borders on CAFE/street-fighter themes, so any advice/inspiration you can offer would be greatly appreciated...
