question about swapping tanks
« on: May 14, 2008, 07:18:32 AM »
I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for, so I apologize if this has already been covered somewhere.  I have a 78 cb550.  It has the wrong seat, so it rubs the tank.  I have a tank from a 76 that fits well, but the petcock is different.  What I need to know is if there is a single outlet petcock that will screw onto the 76 tank.  I tried the petcock from the 78 and it didn't fit the tank.  Thanks.

Can't you just use a "Y" connector and run both petcock outlets into one line?

I had thought about that, but I'll probably need a new petcock anyway.  So finding one with a single outlet would be ideal.

If you need a new petcock anyway, chance are it will be easiest to get an original replacement (or a rebuild kit for the original) and use the Y connector.  There will be no negative effects from running two outlets into one inlet.

Ok, thanks, I'll probably try that then.
