Old Bike Ride coming up!!!!!!
« on: March 18, 2008, 08:55:51 AM »
Jeez!  Time to dust off this regional forum and get things going again!!

I know it's almost eight weeks away, but it's never too soon to remind folks of the impending Old... Bike... Ride!!!!!! (said with a deep, echoing voice). ;D

Current info can be found at http://www.horizonslimited.org/.

My biggest projects planned before this ride are getting two of my friends, both named John, on the road so they can join us.  I need to get the KZ1000 finished so I can sell it back to John G. who I bought it from a year ago, and John T. is waiting on a new petcock for his 650C, and then still needs to take the MSF course and get his motorcycle endorsement.  Other than that I just have to get the leaking carbs on my 750 sorted out.

Anyway, plenty of time to plan ahead for this ride.

Only 4 weeks away now. It's getting close. Get the bikes ready. Run all the StaBil out of your tank and have fresh gas. I'm in. What about all the other Denver area guys? That includes Cheyenne to NM or beyond. Both sides of the divide too. SOHC4s need to be well represented!

charged the batt and it seemed to run ok... haven't checked the charging yet but i rode it a good while today w/ the light off the entire time, signals flashing when on, electric start 6 or 7 times.  (batt was draining and/or drained halfway thru the last ride)
retorqued the head about when this thread was started... not sure how i missed it, sorry guys... no gushers yet.

really... thats all the more i've done since adding the dyna s last year along w/ the rear tire that was installed incorrectly and bounced me all the way to SW colorado  :(  hmmm... i wonder if that had anything to do w/ the oil leak that put it out of commission for the way back, and up till now  ???

looking forward to a night in gordon's garage w/ the timing light this week, and a nice outing w/ the old bikes this weekend! !

Hope the weather is good. I'm going over mine on Wednesday then give it a good cleaning to remove the self lubrication at the head. See you Sat AM. Who else is planning on going? Hondaman, you out there?
