cleaning the motor ran into a snag
« on: August 25, 2005, 06:56:14 PM »
I have decided since the wife is prego with our second child to not let her learn to ride this year and so have now decided to clean it and restore what I can. I have noticed that most of the chrome just takes a lot of elbow grease but the metal parts of the motor have these little specs on them that i can not get off. Anyone know what I am talking about, and if so how the hell do you get rid of them short of taking them off and putting them to the high powered buffing machine that will take place this winter if everything else fails.
Secondly I need a few gaskets and a new muffler, anyone know where to go to get some of these things. I have been reading that JC Whitney has a few items that we can use but if there is another place to look i would rather search around.
By the way I have a 1978 Honda 550fourK. Thanks.
