hello all. finally a good use for the intertnet!
« on: May 11, 2008, 11:05:10 AM »
I'm somewhat new to the whole forum thing. I don't understand a lot of the lingo, but I cannot believe how much good info is on here.

this site is a lifesaver. literally. my clutch just went out and I was thinking about suicide, but luckily the gun jammed and I decided to look for info on the net instead.

I'm mostly decided that I'm going to try and do a engine/clutch rebuild. this seemed kinda daunting to me at first until I saw the forum on CB750 engine rebuilding. 20 pages! you guys are beyond awesome and from what I can tell incredibly helpful. so I think I'll give it a shot.

ok, about me. I like sickles, obviously. I've had about 10 or so bikes since I was 16. I'm 32 now, so I've been riding half my life. all my bikes have been early 70's Hondas. by far my favorite bike is the CB750. funnest, best looking bike ever. I used to skate, race bmx. but I am too lazy to push or pedal now. I grew up on hardcore (punk) music. in other words Black Flag, Poison Idea. I can be a dick sometimes, mostly due to the fact that I have strong opinions. but I am totally open to having my mind changed in the face of a good argument and I respect people who have strong opinions of their own, even when they are different than mine. besides bikes I like to read a lot, mostly nonfiction. history, philosophy, anthropology, politics, dangerous ideas. I used to be a professional criminal but I sucked at it so now I paint houses.

I have a 1971 CB750 K1 complete. a '73 CB450 in pieces. and a '78 Hawk 400t in pieces. and a bunch of parts.

Welcome :)

I can be a dick sometimes, mostly due to the fact that I have strong opinions.

Sounds like you'll fit in just fine ;)

no, I don't think so. but I used to live right by Dewey's in Georgetown. I forget the guys name but there's a old dude who is always there workin on old triumphs and he has a whole wall stacked with Weinhards bottles. He's super cool and I used to stop by and talk to him. I grew up in the Terr. (N Seattle) near the bent bike in Lynnwood. I was always there diggin thru bins. until the internet happened.

When did you live there? I remember when I was young there were these rocker guys. the Boppo boys, I think. they always had cool bikes and I always wanted a Triumph or BSA like them. until I noticed it'd always take 10 or 20 kicks to start one. back then Hondas were way uncool, but I always liked 'em. my first bike was a 74 CB200 when I was 16 and I could beat my buddies 400 4 on it between traffic lights. it was so light I could pick it up, I loved that bike.

anyways I love Seattle, it's my home. but it's not really there anymore. it was tore down by yuppies and they rebuilt a shopping mall on top of it. nothing that you would consider a landmark from when I was a kid is still there but the space needle. when they tore down the Rainier R and put up the Tully's T it was like they took down one flag and put up another. none of the places I used to hang out at are still there. depressing.

did you ever go to Teddys on 65th for the VMA thing? Or the Sunset in Ballard had a cool motorcycle event with bands and stuff once a year, that was cool. anything like that happen around here?

Ya I've been to Teddy's the Buckaroo Tavern, and had my pocket gouged at bent bike and i remember when Dewey's was on Capital Hill. I Grew up in the area, sort of my  dad lived in Lacey. I was there Proper from 93 94 tell 2003.
I donut remember the rockers but in the early 90's there was a whole bunch of us cafe Jap and Britt bikers that would hang out at Cafe Paridiso on Pike after drag racing at the old Bainbridge air strip. Good times. #$%*  I'm talking like I'm old, guess i am. 36yo

I knew allot of the VME guys but I'm not much on joining groups.

Ya Seattle Like San Francisco went to #$%*, i left Seattle with my finger in the air, after one last beer at the 5point.

As fare as what to do in SF, Bar's go to Zeitgeist, it is an old Motorcycle Bar/ Motorcycle Messenger Bar/ Bike Messenger Bar/ Punk rock Puke up and have another bar, sort of Like Zakes 5th ave mixed with 5 Point, but more space and more girls.

There are some things that go on i cant think of them off hand but when you are in the city look for a free paper calle CITY BIKE, they have all the goings on in there.
Yep, i have issues with this sort of stuff.

awesome, I'm 32, a little bit younger. I've drank and done laundry at the 5 point lots of times. there used to be the sit and spin, too. so Seattle had 2 laundry bars! my fave was the lake union pub, they closed down right before my 21st so i never went there legally.

my gfriend works at Molotovs on lower Haight on fridays. she's out of town this week but I'll prob cruise over there next friday. if you wanna stop by I get free drinks. and whoevers with me, too.
