cb500 cam timing
« on: August 21, 2005, 01:29:08 AM »
Hi folks,
Can someone please advise me on how to time the cam on my cb500?
Also does the front chain slipper face frontwards or rearwards? (ie does the chain run between the tensioner and the slipper or does it go over the slipper and run between the slipper and the front of the barrel? If I have the slipper facing rearwards I don't have enough slack in the chain to fit the sprocket.
thanks
Kevin
Thanks for the replies. If I had a manual I wouldn't be requesting this info. Have tried, can't get one over here.
Can't find any tech downloads on this site. How do you find them?
Thanks,
Kevin

morning,

look on this site for tech downloads. they tell you everything step by step, and the pics are readable.

All described in the workshop manual which you need for the toque settings anyway
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Well I seem to have answered the OTHER post on the forums...

And dammit, why aren't there any manuals for the CB650?  I feel like the bastard son who has to sleep in the barn!

But, does that mean that my bike is more "collectable" than others? :)

Good question Dan, anyone out there help with online or downloadable for the 650? (I'll add it to the FAQs)
