So I finally got a replacement head last week but not had a chance to get at it much lately. This head has a lot of crud on the valves which needs cleaning off. Took it to my local bike shop and got help getting the valves out. Just nead some elbow grease for the cleaning. Looks like this head came from an engine that had broken rings, valves have baked on carbon or somthing. Off on holiday soon so wont get much done til the middle of April.

Soooo, after a couple of weeks on holidays  :)  and a busy week at work  :( finally managed to get some quality time at the bike today  :D. Spent most of the time cleaning burnt carbon of the valves and combustion chamber and loads of other crud from where this thing had been lying in the PO's shop gathering all manner of thick dust and what looked like sawdust mixed with old oil. Just got to finish re-seating the valves before getting them back into place then we'll start putting it back together.  8)

It took a while but the valves are seated. Cleaned the carbs - Put the thing all back togeather and started her up. Woo Hoo!! Sounds a bit ruff and not holding the idle. Ran it by the local shop to book an MOT    and some advice on the idling (or not) suggestion is the carbs need balancing. Think I knew that anyway so we'll get that done the same time.

Man it was good to be ridin again! ;D 8)
