The stock #4 header is crimped to allow the foot pedal to clear.

I think the seat is different too, due to the tank difference.  TT can give you the complete rundown on the differences.

Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

I don't really understand the question.  Are you trying to put F exhaust on a K model?
The K model 550 has two header pipes to clear the brake arm.  The F model has four.  The F model has a thinner brake arm and it is offset further away from the frame.  The F model kick start lever is also offset for extra clearance, too.  Also, the foot peg is able to be flipped up to clear the kick start swing.

I thought all the aftermarket 4 into ones accommodated the K style brake arm?  Guess not...

kickstarters are the new catalytic coverter.  always getting my kickstarter jacked.

based on TT's post i think you wil be fine with an aftermarket 4 into 1 as they are all made to clear the brake lever travel.  But stock 550F pipes will not fit a K.

as far as if a 4 into 1 is 'better' it depends on what you mean.  It will increase 'performance' (not sure how much though)  and only if the proper adjustments are made to the carbs. (search for rejetting for 4 into 1 exhaust)

i think 4 into 4 is better because i do not have to rejet my carbs, but that's just me.  (and they are a nice looking set of pipes!)

good luck

Did they make a set of black CR 4 into 4 pipes to fit the 550k. I think those would look and sound great on a 550.  ;D ;D ;D

Probably still have to re jet but it would be worth it.

Is your rear brake properly adjusted? If its way out of whack, the pedal may go far enough to hit the pipe. I don't have a 550 in front of me to look at for any other clearance issues that may be there... Hope this helps!

I meant the adjustment back by the wheel. If you have to depress the  rear brake pedal more than an inch or so before your brakes apply, then you need to adjust it.... ;)

from the top stop to the exhaust their is no place for the break lever to go their is only about a half inch for the lever to go until it hits the exhaust

Which racing class is running stock 4 into 4 exhaust? or are you saying the CR 4 into 4 exhaust is a stock item but just for racing. He is talking about a stock system is he not as compared to a stock f  4 into 1 system!

I've been guilty of not reading things right more than once, but I'm sure getting older plays into that, and that's my story.  ;D ;D
