« on: August 21, 2005, 06:51:20 PM »
Just wanted to pop in and say hi!
my current scoot is a 78 750 k.
She currently has only 9976 miles on the clock.
has a windjammer fairing and a lugage rack with a flip top box.
just gave the bike a full tune up, with new plugs, filters, oil and new front and rear tire.
now I just need to fix my sticking front brake and the signels that dont blink.
will post a pic. tomorow when is light out.
thanks post reading my post.

welcome...I hope you like your new "scoot".

And I will take this opportunity to shamelessly tell you that I am currently running a sale on stuff that I took off of my 1978 CB750K8. If you see something you must have...buy it from me.  ;D My junk is listed in the parts for sale section.

another 78 cb750k owner here, and a new guy as well. i had the same problem with my blinkers, replaced that relay (went to a auto parts store and bought one for $2) and they started working again. Maybe you already know this, but the relay for those are located next to the battery. Easiest way to get it out is to pull off the side cover, reach in and pull it off of the post it hangs on (its encased in a rubber sleeve that hangs on a metal post) then replace it. Its hard to find, easiest when you pull the side cover off then shine a flashlight in that nest of wires to your upper right. You have to kinda dig it out. There was 3 wires, black, red and green. The relay i got only had two posts on it, so i left green unplugged, it works great. If you already knew all that, well then ill shut up now. good luck.
Gold sparkle is the place you outta be.

They ALL have sticky front brakes and blinkers that don't work when we find them (or they find us whatever the case may be). Just about everyone that I have ever seen is like that!
That is except for the 750F models because thay have sticky rear brakes also, with the rear disk.

is it the rubber lines that cause the problem of the caliper?

Many times the caliper, sometimes the master cylinder. I played that game and tried to save some time. Wasted half a day chasing my tail.
Just take it all apart, clean it, replace whatever is too worn or ageing and put it back together.
And that way you only have to bleed it once.
And be sure to clear the return port in the master cylinder.

Ah yes the infamous return port. Hard to find if your master is gunky. Oh Oh, the 78K owners list is growing! Maybe someday parts will actually be made for it!

Perhaps the parts bike is an automatic.

Just a thought not knowing what part of the trans you are looking at.

Yeah, it was made from 76 - 78 I think. It was never that popular since most people liked to shift but I bet it would have been great for a trike.

Seems like the VJMC just devoted an ish to those automatics.

Re brakes; seems like in the early 80's I had some kind of Honda- I had to keep a 2x4 in the garage to whack the front brake with in the morning so I could roll it out.
