manifold bolts?
« on: May 18, 2008, 04:52:10 AM »
I am replacing the nuts on the manifold studs and was wondering about using brass.
Brass "manifold bolts" are available from Canadian Tire ($1.40 ea).
They are the self locking type.
Any advantage to using them over standard hardware?

They should work fine, as long as they are not the "Nyloc" style with the plastic locker.

Brass ones won't seize on and are probably worth the cost.

I know from working on aircraft that they always use brass nuts on the exhaust, they look alot like "nyloc" nuts but the locker on the end of the nut is also made of brass.

 Cheers, Matt.

Thanks Matt.
The "no rusting" part is worth the money!
