hello from vegas
« on: May 19, 2008, 09:39:51 AM »
hi, my name is leroy and i found this forum a couple of days ago after i built a cafe racer for my buddy. i've been surprised at the high level of knowledge on this forum. unlike any other i've seen.i have a 1973 honda cb 450 chopper that i hand built, a 1987 yamaha venture royale, three other bikes that i'm building (honda sl350 from the ground up/frame/ gsxr ront end and wheels/cutom tank and fender, a harley streetfighter, and a shovelhead chopper). after building my buddy's cafe, i decided i needed one. so i found a 1978 cb550 for $100 that looks like it's been sitting for at least 15 years here in the vegas sun. trying to find info on that bike is what led me to this forum. already i've learned quite a bit thanks to the many knowledgeable members. i will try to keep everyone updated on the progress of the 550, and try to help others out with knowledge and parts as time permits. also if anybody needs metal fab work, i have a complete shop where i can do tubing, sheetmetal (steel, copper, aluminum, brass, etc) and some small machined parts. custom tanks, frames, u name it and we can get it done. thanx, i'll see u on the road!

Greetings to the scorching desert :)  You guys are over 100F today, yes?

Sounds like you have quite the collection.  Please do post some pics.

we were over 100 in december. j/k but yeah it's starting to warm up. great time to build a bike and not get too tempted to ride it before it's done. here's my first cafe i built for a friend and how it started.
