Topic: Electrical prob.s with new ignition switch!?!?!?!?!

I bought a 78 CB750K a few months ago and instead of a turn key ignition it had a toggle switch. But the guy gave me an ignition switch for it. I have been riding it for a while with the toggle and everything was fine, blinkers didn't work right but the running, head, brake, and instrument  lights all worked. Now that I have installed the new key switch the blinkers started working but now the tail and instrument lights  won't come on when the key is in the on possition. The tail light will come on in the parking possition. I bought another ignition(used) and the samething. Any ideas this is really frustraiting.

I have never actually looked at this to see if it happens on my bike. I have the same model. We are growing!
It is probably just a crossed wire somewhere caused when the PO installed the toggle switch. Why he did the toggle, we will never know since there is a kill switch on the right control.

I thought it might be crossed wires too. There are two identical looking all brown wires. I tried switching them back and forth but no change.

Well just recently there was a diagram IN COLOR even! of the wiring of a 78K. Just within the last week or so.
Do a search for it. I will try to find it too.

It is for an F but the ign switch should be the same I think.

Still trying to find the problem with the tail light. On the bright side I got the dash lights working. But that doesn't help much at night. Any ideas where I can get a look at the correct way to wire the headlight can. I think that may be where my problem is, or at least the first place to look. I have a stray wire or two?

Ran a jumper to from the headlight to the tail light. Quick fix but at least I can ride at night. Had to use the parking light wire though.
