  • OMG - what did I get myself into this time!!??!!
I've got this nice set of wester bars, generic style, non-Honda so they have a lot les rise and fit ME better.  But I'm kind of looking at Cafe styling and want some informtion on what I loose in clearances for turning with those 'down' bars that look like they would pinch your fingers against the tank in a tight turn.  What I'm thinking of doing is taking my bars off and flipping them over so they go down instead of up...  There's plenty of clerance with these bars, unlike the stock Honda bars, but I'd obviously loose a lot of 'extreme' turning, say manuvering the heavy beastie in the drive or a parking lot to turn it around under pure human muscle power.  I doubt it would be an issue on those nice mountian roads and sweeping turns.

What think, y'all??

A handle bar installation should *never* make contact with the tank.  Sooner or later dents will occur.

I have a pretty tight set of clubman bars on mine and the forks hit the stops just before the bars contact the tank.  That being the case, it wouldn't matter what bars I had, it couldn't turn any tighter.

Depends on the look you are going for.  As TT said, you can never have the bars even touching the tank or you will certainly get dents, but if the fork stops are hitting, no problem.
