Regulator/rectifier question for electrical gurus!
« on: August 22, 2005, 08:33:29 AM »
Hello all.  I have a replacement reg/rec from a honda cb450, will this work for my '77 750 if I change the wire leads to the appropriate male/female terminals?  Are these things "universal" except for the connectors?   Thanks in advance!

No they are not UNIVERSAL!!
And I can't answer your question because I have no knowledge of the CB450 charging system.

They can be pretty interchangeable. As long as the rectifier is for a three-phase alternator and the regulator provides a mean to regulate the coil voltage then they should be interchangeable. You would need some electricity background and both electrical schematics to figure out what goes where.

Perhaps if you post a schematic (or provide an online pointer) for the CB450 Charging system from the Shop Manual, we can determine if it will work on the SOHC4.
