Centre stand still in original place Martino but 4/1 now missing a chunk off it's stand stopper, hard to get a photo as in deep dark place.
Have tip for those attempting to fit all 3 new crush washers into head, coat back of them with some gasket goo (it'll burn off) and when tacky just poke them into head ports, they stay there great while you wrestle with stupid 4 into 1 system that refuses to fit on.
Dear diary: OK project for today was replace float, friendly wrecker sells me one for $10 and I'm off home quick smart to solve my float problems. :D
Unfortunately even with new (second hand) float in No1 carb it still leaks from overflow!!!!
Had lunch and a think about it and resolved that logically (Mr Spock taught me this) if I transfer all the bowl bits from No1 to the easily accessable No4 carb something should occur.
Either No4 will also flood and No1 will seal up perfectly or No1 will still flood and No 4 will now be perfect.
Off course if both now flooded I would just have to cry and abandon shed for the day. :'(
Fortunately after the transfer both sealed up perfectly. ;D
But now bike will not start, check plugs all good big spark, tick, fuel tap on, tick.
Partner who works in a gas station was pulling the plugs and cleaning them for me asked if I had enough gas, sloshed tank and can hear some but have lost quite a bit lately with carb overflows so topped up with boat petrol and she fired up.
Even idled after 5 minutes of warm up and choke.
But now smoke is coming from the regulator, I'm guessing because it has fins that it is cooled by riding and long periods of idling might not agree with it? (help please)
On the bright side I found a new front tire ($120) for bike at wreckers and he also has the equipment to sync the carbs ( a wee job I'm avoiding like the plague no matter how much bullying the forum members give me) ;D
Major stuff now painting tank and front guard and legalising bike for road, plus gotta buy that obligatory helmet even tho Jaffa has offered me to borrow her bright pink scooter helmet!!! yeah right like that's happening!!! >:(

Hey Martino, I live way the heck down here in New Zealand!
The cost of shipping usually is higher than the actual buy cost off Ebay. ;D
Anyhow here's some pictures of stand rest that I buchered on side of 4 into 1 pipes, not the best photo but hey it's a phone one eh.
Other photo is of exhaust gaskets held in place neatly by gasket goo so they don't fall out on ya.

good job..
after i chopped up my exhaust i ran into a small exhaust leak on cylinder #2,i guess i just didnt got it all lined up perfextly..
what i did is i went in the house and when my wife wasnt looking i stole her roll of aluminum foil..
i rolled up a strip of alu foil like a thin rolled sigarette and fitted it in the cylinder head ontop of the crush ring,due to the alu foil being wrapped up tight it funtioned as a "new" extra crush ring and sealed off the exhaust leak perfectly..
got 450 km on it and it still holds good...

Not yet road legal, done as much as I can without taking it for a long ride to test high rev riding etc.
New front tire a must, misplaced my helmet somewhere in 1990's so replacement required.
Major parts like tank, front guard and chain guard prep for paint.
About $500 bucks worth to finish her properly, roll on my backpay ha ha (Jaffa thinks she's getting her kitchen....not!!!) ;D
Till then I'll just be starting her up daily to hear her roar  :'(and sanding back the tank plus a wee bit of filler for very small dents. :)

Yeah i saw that too, have watchlisted it.
What would I do with 99% of another bike though?
Rebuild another 650 I guess.
If it doesn't go to a stupid price I just might grab it, you never know when Jaffa might graduate from that plastic scooter. ;D
I could build that chopper I always wanted to build ha ha.....

Dear diary: today I removed the troublesome 4 into 1's and found as I thought that they had not sealed up to the head properly, carbon half rings at the bottom of 3 pipes show that only the number 1 pipe had sealed.
Re gummed the whole lot back on with exhaust gasket cement and she is a lot quieter, pipes not so hot either so guess the flames have stopped gushing out.
Still mainly stalled for parts and finance on project, look out next week when 6 months backpay arrives.
Will take my nads in my hand and start rubbing down the tank this week anyway, gotta be done sometime and it's one of the cheap things I can achieve right now.

Had a brainstorm tonight, as I have been contemplating the painting of my tank and front guard. ???
The problem is that I don't want to lose the use of my bike for such a long period as I really really want to ride it. :'(
I've decided to put off the serious paint job till another day, I have the top grade paint which can sit until I find time. :)
So rattle can (love that phrase, we don't use it in NZ) undercoat and then rattle can gloss white for tank and guard.
