I must be truely over my youth, anything under 100 mph was sneered at ha ha :D

Alright onto todays project, finding where my headers are leaking, have a tube of exhaust cement to mush into the offending orifice. ;D
Then I'm going riding yeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! :D

I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Dear diary: Well that all went OK, Murphy's law prevailing of course, I removed the left side first and found nothing amiss so tackled the right side and sure enough #3 had black sooty deposits where she had been firing out of, also found my main earth strap loose? wonder when that happened!
Bike still fires on first push and runs witht he headlight all day no problem so looks like I have fixed something finally.
Weather report is for gale force westerlies up to 100klmph for next few days so that will garage the bike for a while, damn shame as the sun is shining and the sky is blue......stuff it I'm off for a ride. ;D

I'm baaaack  :) and no I hadn't fixed my problem so it can't have been the exhausts, had another look at the bike while it was idling and tried to pinpoint the noise, backed off the camchain adjuster 3 turns and suddenly "SILENCE"...wonderful beautiful silence.......... ;D so I win a chocolate fish.

Dear diary: Alrighty we have progress, Soos isolators went on a piece of pie, found a good use for my tie-down straps again to hold back the carbs.
Old isolators were a sorry looking state, that leak will well and truly be gone now.

WOW, thats quite a difference!
Definitely worse looking than most I have seen.

You might want to re-sync those carbs again though.
Or it would seem to me to make sense.
Fix a air leak near where you do the vacuum testing to balance carbs, and then the imbalance shows.
Re-balance them and I bet it will run better than you have had it do before.

Good point Soos, I really need to get out and run her at speed but weather here is crud and looks like that for rest of week, hope it's getting good for you guys in the Northern Hemisphere now.
Rats Mosquito! full grown rotweiller I'd say, but after 30 years on there I guess they just plum wore out.
OK so my pipes come from Texas USA and my isolators from Canada, the bike is originally from Japan and is owned by a New Zealander this is becoming a really international machine. ;D

I know?!
Musta been heaps of clutch and a nervous fist full of throttle. ;D
Actually that really bad looking one "didn't" leak, it was #3 that was sucking air, I even proved it with the old spray on CRC and listen for engine pick-up.
Bet I can pull a better one now ;D ;D ;D

Dear diary: Just to prove a point to myself I went out (in the rain) to my garage and pulled the cover off the bike, gas on, full choke, kill switch off, 1/4 throttle, turn key (all lights nice and bright) BRRROOOMMMMM first press..........after a week or more in the shed she is still holding great charge.
Diagnosis complete for charging issue...cure.....one $50 rotor...........life is good. ;D

Shame about this stinking weather. >:(

Come off it woman, I'm technologically challenged!
Anyhow if you grab a handfull of small stones and put them in an empty baked beans can and shake the shyte out of them that's what she sounds like when she's cold, warm is more like a real 650.
I can do the recording on my cell phone but how you upload that I have no idea?

I emailed it to myself to get the .wav file, then uploaded the .wav file onto a file sharing site.  ...I also used my iTunes to convert the .wav file to an .mp3.

Dear diary: Well this was the first day it didn't rain in 12 so got out and about, put 60 good miles on the bike, stopped 3 times to take photos and she fired right up so charging issues delt with.
Is not idling well, probably reacting to the new carb isolators I fitted last week, this is the first chance I have had to run the bike at speed.
She don't mind going fast, just hates slow and idle so better get a resync on the carbs.....should learn to do that myself I guess.
Beautiful damn day, I shot out into the country and did some twistie riding, even though I had left my ride till 11am (so I could sleep in  :)) there was still frost on some of the corners which was something I had forgotten about over the years of non riding, luckily the Metzlers didn;t let me down and the old riding habits of not throwing the brakes on at the sight of ice probably saved me a trip through the weeds to ditchville. ;D

You mean locally or you can't find any on the net? Kit got the Morgan Carb Tune and it was cheaper due to the exchange rate being favorable to the US right now. You should check out the site and see how much for NZ... Kit loves her tuner. It's so easy to use and no worries about sucking fluid into the engine.

This is the only one I can find Mickey, didn't really want to lay out so many $$ for something I will use rarely but if it comes down to it I may have to.

Checking with the currency converter online, it is cheaper for you to go directly to the Morgan Carb Tune site and buy it from them, new. It should be just under 150 NZ dollars with the shipping included. It's 58 pounds right now, shipped. Do you have a buddy that would "share" it with you and split the charge?  I think it's worth it. Only 2 synchs and it's more than paid for.

Anyone with multiple carbs- 2,3,4 or the site says you can even set the throttles on a fuel injection system with it. I'm just trying to help you save some $$ by spending some, Hush. Women have perfected this over the years...
