I'm more a superglue kinda guy Marti. ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Troppo you wouldn't believe it but here in Godszone we aren't allowed extra lettering (like cars have) and bikes can only have 5 letters/numbers per plate.
So I'm gonna save the $750 that it would have cost me to buy a flash personalised plate and mayeb buy another basketcase bike ha ha.

Dear Diary: Dang boat blew the starter motor and have to sideline some bike funds into doing that before I can continue, done a quick count up and I'm about $1000 away from finishing this wee beastie.
Expect an acceleration in my restore and the promised "video ride around" in late October....same Bat channel....Hush. ;D

Hey cheers for that Phil, now tell me how hard is it to get the original exhausts for them wee CB350F's?

Yep Troppo, so many other things happening, putting in a spa pool (orders of the boss) and that has slowed down my 650 rebuild

Boat oh yeah do I have a boat he he, she's beautiful old 17 foot Haynes Hunter V17L, most of the time the V4 90 horse Evinrude is bullet proof but starter is giving me trouble, $280 for a recon or $450 for a new one!

Will give that 350 a serious looksee too, would be just right for Jaffa as she is a 3ft tall Hobbitt. ;D

Hush, the original exhausts are available at present for $1800Aust on Ebay for NOS. Glad I did not have to pay that much for mine. The guy has 2 sets.

Yeah well the PO named the boat "ROKA" and we suspect it has something to do with the fact that the V17L  is a bit narrower than the V19L, we don't have any problems with her rocking at anchor anyhow. ;D
We did notice she has had 2 other names before Roka, previous owners should have written the old name in small print on the right rear of the boat, very bad luck not to apparently.
I'm sure I have enough room in my shed for a CB350f!! ;D
Still tracking that other CB650PZ too, I'm also very sure I have room in my bedroom/shed/spare room for another one! ;D
I note two rather good CB500 4's on Trade-me, that orange one has a single speedo? is that normal?

OK slow progress, time is the killer on this project, work keeps getting in the way of my pleasure! ;D
New addition to the Hush family today, finally found that white FFM K3 I was looking for, the shop wanted $239 for it and then another $35 for a clear visor.
I watched a programme from US the other week on negotiating where people never paid full price for anything, just asked for the "best" price and got massive discounts!
So I thought I'd try that, result $200 for the whole lot ;D now who says you don't learn anything from television?

Yeah not sure if I want to stuff up the airodynamics of the bike by attaching the correct screen to it, talking to a couple of retired MOT Cops today and they tell me the T200 screen fitted to these bikes by the dept made them slow and stuffed the handling.
Story they tell me is that one of NZ's top bike tuners was called in to find out why these things handled like cr*p.
He removed the screen, took a lap around Manfield circuit and said "there all cured, just don't fit that damn screen back on it"!

Just a reminder to myself of what the bike is supposed to look like when finished. ;D

And a bonus shot of a sweet little CB550 police bike.

Hush's first ride!!!!!!!
« Reply #224 on: October 14, 2008, 06:38:14 PM »
Screaming bejabbers these CB650's are fast!!!
Took some time to figure the steering too which is quite light for such a big bike, could be those new Alballz bearings I put in the steering stem I suppose. ;D
Had to take bike to bike shop for some TLC that I readily admit I am not even attempting.
I have got the tuning as close as I can but the carbs still sound out of whack and syncing them is best left to anyone but Hush. ;D
Have been agonising over how to get the bike to the shop for a week or two now, pushing did not appeal (been there done that got the sweat soaked T shirt to prove it) and no one had a trailer I trusted enough to carry my baby as she would ahve sat way up high and you can only lash them down so much.
Anyhow my partner, the wise Jaffa said I should chuck her scooter plate on and just ride it even though it wasn't running the best.
So that's what I did, YEEEHAAAAAAAAA ;D ;D ;D ;D
Still can't get the grin off my face and even though most of the Police stuff like the siren and red light are off it for this trip, the combination of a big white bike and my white helmet got me plenty of road courtesy. ;D
My pet mechanic after he stopped grinning at the bike said it sounds like most of the engine noise is primary chain slop and that is adding to the clutch rattle since both are on the same driven shaft. :'(
Another noise I found when riding over there  ;D was a sound like cam chain rattle, anyhow mechanic is going to check that and check my valves as he says there is definately a small click on the number 4 set.
But what a blast to actually get her out on the road!!
From a few boxes of parts and an abused rolling frame to road speed, Yehaaaa ;D
Mechanic is gonna ring me if he finds any more bits that need a look at and I think to be safe I'll hunt that other 650 up I have been toying with getting as I know that motor is rock solid.
Yeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaa ;D :D ;) :) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
