Hmmm, there's one from my wife:
"We are too poor to buy cheap"... but somehow this doesn't apply to my bike spare parts. Strangely, it applies to her bike.. hmmm....

Congrats! My end still bottoms, so I did super-cheapo solution - spacers under spring to harden them.. works.. kind-of....

My springs still work great Buber but they have absolutely no shock absorbing effect left.
I'll let you know how those David Silver shocks work out for me, hopefully the ride will improve or I'll have to crash diet to help the old girl corner.

You're lucky. I ordered a master cylinder rebuild kit from OldBikeBarn for my friend's Virago on the 5th and it's still not here. It didn't even ship out 'til the 19th! No mention of backorder until I emailed them on the 8th wondering why I hadn't gotten a tracking number... :/

Heh I finally got the part in today, 17 days after I ordered it. It would've been nice if they would have labeled the parts as out of stock; I could've spent an extra $10 to buy the thing on eBay and would've had it in a couple of days.

Oh well, back to the Police 650.

Does anyone know if these shocks are any good? Since mine look stock they are most likely shot and in need of replacement. I'm really trying to pinch the pennies as I'm quickly running out of budget (heh, I'm already over), but suspension is pretty darned important.

Sorry Hush, not trying to jack your thread. Nice shocks BTW, I may end up going with them.

Bike nearly back together, waiting on paint on pannier bags to dry so I can bolt the new hinges on.
Bolted up the bag brackets anyway and tomorrow she should be ready to rock.

Dear diary: Man these panniers are taking an age to get fixed!
Coats of paint to cover the repairs where they hit the road and bogged the old holes, redrilled new ones to accept the new hinges.
I'm sure I could have done an engine transplant quicker!

Just had a thought, my bike is just such an ambassador for world harmony.
Originating as a fully built bike from the Honda factory in Japan in 1979.
Miscellaneous parts added from around the world.
1) Full set of pipes from Texas ( Bike still makes strange Yippee Kaiyay on heavy acceleration

)
2) Carb isolators from Canada (took me ages to get them defrosted)
3) Rear shocks from England (had to scrape the corgi poop off them)

2. Who flew in from CAMBODIA

4. A NEPALESE tailor
5. Was making a suit from BRITISH material....
6.(it is quite possible that scissors and sewing machine were made in china

Dear diary: Well it hasn't stopped raining for a week now and I almost have cabin fever, finished the pannier bags and they look OK too, the heavier hinges will outlast the rest of the bike.
Young fella from Wellington contacted me about getting some lowering brackets, well he's in luck as the one's I was given by a fellow SOHC guy in the South Island never got used as they were for the 650 Custom that Jaffa couldn't ride.
I've given him the same deal I got, you get the brackets for free but you gotta give a donation to the SPCA.

Winter is truly here and riding days will be few and far between now.....bummer, have yet to ride the bike with the new shockies.

And yeah in provo we had that rain as well. mornings were good most days though.
