Topic: So, the crotch rocket fellow left a note on my 550....

I rode to work today and when I took my lunch break, I found that the black Honda crotch rocket owner next to me had scotch taped a note that reads, "Don't park so close to me."

No problem with the note other than the fact that I was a good 2 feet from his ride, and the fact that he used about 10 inches of scotch tape to stick the stupid freakin note on my tank.

Totally uncalled for.  If it had been my newly painted gold tank, some #$%* would have went down today.  I have the orange tank on the bike right now...  but that doesn't mean that I am inviting any more scotch tape to be stuck to my tank.  however I am trying to deal with this civilly.


Suggestions on how to deal with this problem thus far:

He has no respect for your property, even if the tape does no harm, but watch out for his precious belly button (everyone has one) bike. What a punk.

Hope - put a big notice on this guys tank with lots of duct tape that says "Ok, but dont put duct tape on my tank or Ill break your legs". Duct tape residue can remain sticky for ever...take some WD-40 and wipe that crap off.

Stick a note on his bike thanking him for his concern, but explain that your old classic has an exellent immune system, so it won't be contaminated by his two-wheeled toothpaste tube.....

Consider photographing any future injury done to your property. If the person responsible does not find discussing the matter in a civil manner, this might be helpful in further negotiations. If speaking does not help and the person is a fellow employee, I would enlist the sympathy of others at work and speak to him/her as a group.
If this doesn't work, I would find out where he/she lives or another place where he/she parks their bike and eff it and he/she up.

Seriously, see if you can speak with the person and straighten it out. Good luck!

So, he was standing at the elevator waiting for the elevator to get to the 7th floor... and around the bend comes Cassandra and me.  When I realize it's him, I squeeze in the clutch and give the throttle a little twist so he knows I see him.  His eyes got real big like he thought I was going to run him over.

I didn't.  We're 7 stories up, and the wall behind him is glass.  It would not have ended well. 

In any case, I parked the bike and headed to the elevator, where he did not hold the elevator.  He hurried up and got in as soon as  the doors opened.  It was my full intent to attempt talk to him in a civil manner this morning.

By the way, he doesn't know who rides that orange bike he stuck the tape & note on.  (He works in the same office building, but we work on different floors in different agencies.)  You might be surprised to learn that he works for the Louisiana State Inspector General's office.  He doesn't know I'm a 5'5" woman.  I could be anybody.   I could be crazy.

I guess a crotchrocket doesn't have the same rights as your bike and he doesn't deserve any more space than you deem necessary. Sounds like he should be flogged and never allowed to park in the same parking area. Maybe he should have left the note under the windshield wiper! But then we only hear your side of the story. Hope you don't have a concealed carry permit. A gun and pms is a dangerous thing, or at least that's what it sounds like.

Hope, is there a shortage of spots or something?  If you really feel slighted by the scotch tape, then tape a similar note on his bike saying "Sorry, I'll park in a different spot from now on".  Then he would discover how annoying it is to have scotch tape on his bike, too.  Don't go overboard, though!!!  Just do exactly the same thing he did to you.  That way he has nothing to say about you.  Would that make you feel better, and resolve the issue too?

Did any damage occur to hopes bike? Does not sound like it. So all this other crap about duct tape and oil and such is nothing but juvenile. He thought she parked to close. Maybe 2 feet IS too close. measure 2 feet out once, not that much room is it. A tall person could easily kick a bike by accident getting on theirs. Maybe the guy is protecting BOTh of their bikes.

Nice way to suggest potentially hurting someone. That is by far much worse than scotch tape on paint. If your paint comes off with scotch tape, you needed a paint job anyways.
