On the centerstand? Am I the only wimp who struggles to get the bike on the centerstand when I'm alone?

I had the ACL in my left knee replaced about 5 months ago, and it's agony to muscle my little 360 onto that thing.

Hope, I figure that you will (if you haven't already) handle things appropriately. HE might not behave properly though. Hopefully things will be settled without a problem. I DO like the way you got his attention when you saw him by the elevator. ;D That was priceless! ;) I fully understand and appreciate your feeling about the note and how it was applied. BTW, I hadn't read the entire thread cause it seemed that some had missed the actual point you were making. I could get a bit unraveled about him seeming to have no respect for "Vintage Bikes" and feeling so uppity about his "crochrocket"

See those shocks on my bike?  I don't struggle to get it up on the center stand.  It just rocks right up there.  I had knee surgery in 2005.  A good bit of my meniscus was removed due to a torn meniscus.  Those shocks made all the difference.  I no longer struggle to get the bike on the center stand.

The guy is obviously a douche and the whole building agrees ;)

What I feel like doing in these situations: scratching, disfiguring, knocking over in a way that can not be proven it was me. Raising hell and calling the police when they retaliate. Deny everything.

What usually ends up happening: I stew on it a bit until I realize that I'm putting way too much time in reacting badly. If opportunity presents, say to individual "didn't realize I was too close for you. How much room do you need? If there's any future problems drop by my office as I'd be much more receptive if I didn't have to clean tape off my paint. Oh yeah, and your a prick. The whole building thinks so"

Just using your situation as an example Hope. Again, I'm sure you'll handle things better than I would.

Have I mentioned that he wears his helmet and kevlar jacket into the office so everyone knows he rode his bike to work?  Before they figured he's a jerk, they thought he was "special" for wearing his helmet into the office.

That's real wanker territory.  I wear my jacket in to work, but I'm carrying my briefcase and helmet so I don't have a third hand for the jacket  :)

So now there is a dress code when you get to work? What? Helmet and jacket must be off and gloves too? I dont have to strip to my shorts do I? I mean I would rather a be a bit of a wanker if it means not striping to shorts. Wait, I am hardcore wanker, I have walked to my biek from work with my helmet on. Just cause it was raining doesn't mean a thing. I have also worn my jacket in even when I had a free hand!!! Holy crap! I am a wanker. :P

Well..

I'm amazed that this thread has rambled on so long..and so recently about a topic that doesn't seem to be that big of a deal.

Is it just me..or do some of us have nothing better to do than to comment and rant-on about trivial stuff?

I tend to agree with the ladies however (Hope..et al.) that the appeal is for a reasonable..yet clear way to communicate to her "co-worker" that he was being just a bit too anal about her parking next to him.

I wonder: where is all the vitriol and anger coming from (I suspect that it is more testosterone than anger) in some of the replies on this thread?  It doesn't seem too different from what we've seen on other threads..especially relating to current political situations.

Anyway Hope..all others more rational on this thread..I think we have absolutely nothing to be self-conscious or defensive about in riding these old SOHC 4 Honda's (and whether we "park too close").  I personally take pride..and would stand-up to any crotch-rocket or Harley rider..in defending the integrity of our ride(s).  Rock on!

Domo..

I'm sorry, I thought this was the shameless thread.

I think we're all feeling a little feisty today, between this and the noisy neighbor thread.

I've worn my jacket in to work, but I have never made it to the 6th floor of my office with my helmet and gloves on.

Just not necessary where I work.  There are not that many hazards in my office building...  but apparently the crotch rocket fellow feels that it is necessary.

Maybe the crotch rocket douche bag has had other office staff throw things at his head on his way in the door, it could be a survival method for him. ::)

Well i read  page 1-3 and 8

so i may have missed some parts..or maybe not..

 I did like Ichi,s post..

I do see a lot of,  lets get the bastard, (in general on here) I think it might be to a certain extent internet bravado.. which is not like actually doing it in real life.

I have experienced the similar attitude with some riders here that ride newer stuff, they actually dicked around with my bike &  I much later found out. Some of the younger crowd or casual riders must have missed the bulletin that a guys bike is his bike regardless of value , AND YOU SHOULD TREAT IT LIKE YOU WANT YOURS TO BE TREATED.

and Ekim , you have to realize it is an open forum, and if everyone decides to have a kick at you they will, if they feel like it.. wether it is warranted or not. ( I did not find it any worse than some of the other posts, it did not bother me)

I'm starting to see a pattern with certain gen-Xer's..and younger in their posts: they have personal issues that they seem to need to vent on these threads. [I know..I'm just an old foggey that is out of your social sphere..but I MAY just know a thing or two about what was happening with these Hondas..WHEN WE WERE ACTUALLY RIDING THEM>>NEW]. I don't expect any consideration for that though..as I have received none from many SOHC 4 folks under 40.

Whoops!  Guess that had to come out sometime!

Aww, was that really necessary?

I think we've been having fun with this from the first response.  I just can't believe no one has poked fun because she objected to the scotch tape and wanted him to put it...

...in the crevice between the tank and the seat.

Oooh!  Have I crossed the line?????

Not a Harley in sight!  (It looks like it is going to storm today)

Ive noticed this as well...threat of rain in the forecast and they all disappear.....maybe they turn to Sportsbikes when they get wet  ;)

I WAS GASSING UP TO MAKE A 60 MILE RUN TO WORK YESterday (dont you hate it when the caps lock is on and you are too lazy to go back and retype crap, but you could go on and type way more crap without it being too much bother?) and it was pouring rain.  the truck at the pump in front of me had a harley sticker on the back glass.  i didnt notice it until he said- or rather asked- "you dont have a windshield?"  I pointed to my helmet visor.  he didnt get it though so i said "its not that windy."  It was incomprehensible to him that i would ride in a downpour.  in the end he told me to be safe, and called me 'brother' I thanked him and told him to do the same (a truck can do a lot more damage) so he was not someone i want to pick on- just another example of how special we are.

In note leaving news- I had a note left on my bike the other day.  it was rolled up and wedged between the gauges.  it would have stayed put on the ride home.  so no need for tape.  it made me feel nice too.  it said she has the same bike and we should ride, and she signed it with a little heart before her name- but no phone number.  well placed, but poorly stated.  Now i have to be a stalker to get in touch.

I did google her and will probably get in touch- I have always riden alone and it might be nice to meet other sohc4heads in reality (you guys are great though.)

this thread should be tagged the last throes of cabin fever.

EDIT: i got typos that make me look stupid
