Here is the basic  problem as I see it, feel free to flame me if you dont agree..

The last few decades, riders just dont seem to get the concept of respecting other people property or in this case bikes.

A lot of recent rider (like last 2 decades) seem to equate blue book value as a factor in how much worth older bikes have vs new... but there were a few dicks way back as well, that didnt get it.. ::)

So I am thinking he thought his bike had a higher place in the world than the old one.. and thus showed little respect..

Hope, I would just tell him nicely that if he EVER sticks something on your bike again, he will be walking funny for a very long time, and will probably get a new nickname out of the deal :o

He may get the hint..

I totally agree.  I think that is exactly what the problem is.

Now that's funny! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I would take a piss in his exhaust and swap his ignition wires around. Then I would rivet a metal engraved note saying you touch my #$%*ing bike again I will cut your throat.

In reality I would ask him to not touch my bike and if he needs to learn that bikers should respect each other i.e. not stick anything or touch another persons bike. Then if he gave me attitude I would perform the above mentioned  ;D

Me, I would let this thread die. After all, the people being stupid are the ones that keep going on about simple scotch tape on a simple tank. Have ANY of you used scotch tape? What does it stick to? Paper? Thats about it. It cant even stick to fingers worth crap.

Would you people grow up and let this die.

You all sound like a bunch of retards trying to hump a doorknob! Most of you are showing the same amount of respect that you accuse this guy of not having. :P

With all respect, Eldar, you stirred the pot just eight posts back.

I support the alienable right of this thread to live. I refuse to grow up. And, man, oh man, any thread with artwork like KK's above deserves to continue.

I was having more fun pontificating, but here's another *useful* suggestion (originally from ieism):

1. Go trough your garage and find some important-looking screws, springs and washers. Chrome ones will work best.
2. Tape them to his handlebar with a note saying: "guess where these came from?............."
3. Watch from a distance and see if he dares to drive his bike home.

I feel I must nourish my inner child.

Ha! :D  You, of all people, should be one of the last to say something like that.  I'll be the first to admit that I sometimes enjoy dragging out petty disagreements, but then I don't then go into other threads and tell people to "grow up and let this die".

If you don't like a thread then don't read it.  And more importantly, don't post on it.  You're doing exactly what you're whining about other people doing.

And, once again, the dick move by this guy wasn't the note.  It wasn't the fact that he used scotch tape (speaking of something someone needs to get over).  It was the fact that he used TEN INCHES of tape to apply the note.  Regardless of the brand or type of tape, that was a dick move.  I don't care how windy it may have been, two small strips of tape, one on the top and one on the bottom, would have easily held the note on.

And yes, scotch tape can remove paint.

So you have never used scotch tape then. It takes almost 10 inches of the stuff to manage to stick to itself!

Plus, I have not shown all the grade school vindiction many others here have. But then you are right, I shouldn't read this. Why bother trying to talk sense into anyonE? It Does not work here.

Who is the asshat? A person with tape or the people with a blood froth dripping from their mouth, screaming about bodily harm to the supposed asshat who just used tape?

I can see some of you now.  AAAHHHHH!!!!! A person left a finger print on my bike!!!!!! He must die!!!!! He has no respect!!!!!!! I must do hideous things to him!!!!!! asshat asshat asshat!!!!! Christ, the guy did not shoot a person. He did not run over your dog. He used a piece of tape that seems excessive. Are we sure it is excessive? Are we sure it was TEN WHOLE INCHES LONG? I mean was hope that anal to have to hang on to the tape just to measure it? I mean, people can be way off just eyeballing. Maybe it was just seven inches.

FACT. NO damage occured on the tank.
FACT. The guy clearly realizes he committed douchebaggery as he avoids her.

Let it go.

Sorry, not going to work gordon. If you were not just as guilty, then it might.

What do you mean "not going to work"?  It already has.  You're still posting, aren't you? ;D

You really need to lighten up, eldar.  Most people are just having some fun with this thread.  There's only a few like you who are actually taking it seriously.

I dunno how many folks have built I bike from scratch.....

Or completely restored a bike to concourse condition....

Let me tell you...a fingerprint gets a stern talking to.

Can't count the hrs I spend on bikes nor the money.

Nor do I want to.

If I caught someone in the act of taping on one of my bikes there would be violence unless it were large bils being taped.

I would but I am at work, even though I am doing nothing! Even if I was not at work, I do not have much fun riding in the rain as i do not have a rain suit to use. Besides, water dripping down the back of your neck is a bit cold! :o

kg, are you this way about your cars and planes? Sure I might get irritated abotu someone touching but it is not like there is damage or they are outright sitting on my bike without permission. Take pride in the fact someone likes your work.

Yes tape is different but it has to be balanced with the fact that there was no damage. Sure tell the guy to not do it again, express your dislike of it. But to plot revenges that far exceed the initial crime? A little overboard.

Eldar,

You keep saying "no damage was done".  Well, guess what?  No damage is being done by this thread either, unless of course you count your blood pressure.  Maybe it's time to take a little of your own advice. :-\

ok... i'm going to end this stupid scotch tape argument right now!!!

someone tried to scotch tape some small lights to my motorcycle... you know how scotch tape STICKS REALLY WELL TO  PLASTICS AND METAL AND PAINTED SURFACES?... you know how when you try to get it off it comes off in pieces?

there are still bits of SCOTCH tape that I CAN NOT GET OFF.  it is in a difficult spot and i had to scrape it out w/ a screwdriver.

sidenote:
and if anyone else asks me why i didn't just use some goof off or something... I WILL COME TO YOUR HOUSE AND SCOTCH TAPE THE CRAP OUT OF YOUR BIKE AND DUCT TAPE YOUR ASS CHEEKS... because we all know good and well what scotch tape is not good for.

now, go watch horsepower hill   http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9049889894773821288&hl=en  god knows i was trying to get out some aggression on that vid   ;D
