As I said before, the contents of the letter did not bother me so much.  He has an opinion, and is entitled to say that he feels that I parked too close for  his preference.

I really didn't think the note itself was a big deal.  "Please" was never an issue with me.

I thought the tape was excessive and disrespectful of my property.  For example, the security guard who works in our building jokingly put a parking ticket in the crevice between the tank and the seat.  The area there was snug enough that the parking ticket did not fly off.

Why not stick the note that reads "Don't park so close to my bike" in the crevice between the seat and the tank?  Or cram the paper somewhere between the tank and the handlebars, anywhere that I can see it...  but ten inches of scotch tape on my tank was excessive and disrespectful.

I would have never done that to someone else's bike.... this is why I was not happy about the note.

Still was it worth it? I mean it was scotch tape. Did any paint get pulled? No? Then let it go. isnt that part of what riding is for? Like I said, either talk to the guy or just park another foot away. Nothing changes in the grand scheme of things. Besides, letting it go will only help your blood pressure

To play devil's advocate, maybe the guy thought honestly that the sticky tape wouldn't damage the paint. Maybe he used a long strip to make sure the note would not fly with the wind. Maybe he has not layed down for two months and have the male equivalent to PMS. Maybe somebody who is not the bike owner left the note.

Hope, if the paint has not been damaged, just talk to whoever the guy is. People is less willing to damage other's property when they know the person. If you talk to him, he will know you don't intend to damage his good-looking bike, either intentionally or not. And he won't feel the need to damage yours. Clarify the misunderstanding and get on with your life.

The guy dodged me when I was going to talk to him, which is why I called him a coward earlier.

Our agency is about to move buildings so I don't have very much longer to deal with him.  However, he should recognize that you don't just mess with someone else's bike.  If the tables were turned, I wouldn't tape anything to his bike.

The general consensus in our office building is that he thinks he is the sh*t.  Co-workers and supervisors, and even the security guard said that the guy was just jealous that people were stopping on the street and looking at my bike and not his.  Basically, everyone is supposed to ooh and wow over his bike.  So, he was trying to belittle my bike by sticking the note on my bike.

A lot of people actually came up to me yesterday and asked, "what was that on your bike?"  When I told them what it was, they said the guy is a jerk.  (Like that was their opinion of him before they even knew that he had put the note on my bike).

Until yesterday, I've never had a conflict with him to have a biased opinion of him.  I think that if he would have taken a minute to talk to me this morning, I would feel differently about him.

Oh, by the way, I had to add a half a quart of oil to my bike this morning.  I didn't have any oil left from when I changed my oil, so I had to use some stuff I got on sale from when I changed my oil in my car.  It was 5W 30 STP oil.  I didn't think that it was the best oil for my bike, but I figured, "having oil is better than not having oil."

Then, I had the perfect ride to work:  I think I was the only bike on the road!  Not a Harley in sight!  (It looks like it is going to storm today)
