kg, are you this way about your cars and planes? Sure I might get irritated about someone touching but it is not like there is damage or they are outright sitting on my bike without permission. Take pride in the fact someone likes your work.

Yes tape is different but it has to be balanced with the fact that there was no damage. Sure tell the guy to not do it again, express your dislike of it. But to plot revenges that far exceed the initial crime? A little overboard.

I agree that some of the plots are a bit eccentric, overboard, and out of proportion to the offence.

I am not that way about my Truck...I didn't build it hence no emotional attachment to it.

If you come out and find someone fiddling with your bike....or sitting on it...there better be some quick talking.

I consider what I do a form of artistic expression.

Do you touch stuff in an art gallery? Would you stick tape on the Mona Lisa?

I can hear ya now.....Jeesh KG...nothing you own is the Mona Lisa....well it is to me.

Try building an aluminium fuel tank....Maybe lay some silver or gold leaf....I'm pretty sure you can paint a canvas faster than you can build a bike.

Yeah the guy is a ASSHAT, a douche, a dick and everything else.

The proper way to handle it would have been find the owner and ask them not to park so close.

A simple request, done politely would have sufficed.

Some folks are willing to accept a lack of though and a lack of commen decency.....I'm not one of them.

Mind your manners, be polite, be respectful. If your not....yup...I'll call ya on it.

I mean was hope that anal to have to hang on to the tape just to measure it? I mean, people can be way off just eyeballing. Maybe it was just seven inches.[snip]

Gosh, I really hate to admit it, but I'm with Eldar on this one. 7 1/4 inches of scotch tape would be my minimum limit for calling anyone an @ssh@t. 7 1/4 inches would convert to a minimum of 3/4 square inches of duct tape. (Duct tape is often placed cross-wise.) This estimate is based on the relative adhesive strength. A Post-It is O.K.; however, more than one Post-It is excessive. Anybody using more than one Post-It on a bike deserves a screw driver to the neck.

ok... i'm going to end this stupid scotch tape argument right now!!!

someone tried to scotch tape some small lights to my motorcycle... you know how scotch tape STICKS REALLY WELL TO  PLASTICS AND METAL AND PAINTED SURFACES?... you know how when you try to get it off it comes off in pieces?

there are still bits of SCOTCH tape that I CAN NOT GET OFF.  it is in a difficult spot and i had to scrape it out w/ a screwdriver.

sidenote:
and if anyone else asks me why i didn't just use some goof off or something... I WILL COME TO YOUR HOUSE AND SCOTCH TAPE THE CRAP OUT OF YOUR BIKE AND DUCT TAPE YOUR ASS CHEEKS... because we all know good and well what scotch tape is not good for.

now, go watch horsepower hill   http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9049889894773821288&hl=en  god knows i was trying to get out some aggression on that vid   ;D

ya.  i've used it and consider it in the brake fluid category as far as corrosive is concerned.

yes, thank you... i know it is not "corrosive"

but it will degrade paint, plastic... basically, anything w/ a finish.   :-*

There's also one called "Goof Off".

It's basically lighter fluid with a different label, as opposed to "Goo Gone" which is a citrus based solvent.  I've used Goo Gone on many painted/finished surfaces with no ill effects.  You should try it on your bike sometime, Heffay! ;D

Glass has a finish, will it hurt that?
Chrome finish?
Teflon finish?

now see?  here we get into the topic of who is a LADY and who is just the average woman or... even worse... OLD LADY.

old ladies degrade rapidly... i would only recommend water and they even sometimes melt at that point.
your regular everyday woman can withstand a lot... water, soap... even the occasional lashing w/ a wet noodle.  make sure to use the big noodles to transfer the weight a bit to not magnify the blow.
a lady on the other hand, especially painted... should not be goo goned or goofed off with.  goo gone will destroy the finish, goofing off will just make her cry.

Actually, naptha (aka Lighter fluid) does a right fair job of softening/dissolving tape residue without damaging shiny painted surfaces.  It does, however, remove and wax on the surface.  So, you will have to re-wax.  Unless the paint is "chalky", I haven't found a paint that naptha attacks yet.  Although, I haven't tried it on Tempra paint...

water attacks tempera paint... it is simply a powder w/ water as the "active" ingredient... basically, makes it what we consider a paint.

once it has dried, it will often return to its powder state only adhered to something thanks to its carrier, the water.  a simple wash over with water will remove much of the tempera, but not all.

here's my response, why i stepped down as moderator, and why i haven't been on here much lately... ask gordon about my anger management issues!  honestly, i think a lot of them stem from dealing w/ many of you on a regular basis when i was a mod... oh, and the nurture aspect considering i was adopted.

i would punch him in the face.
i would also punch anyone disrespecting Hope on a public forum in the face.

guess what, i never hit the ban button while i was a mod but i sure have wanted to lately!

what is with everyone these days?

am i trying to get banned?  maybe a little... some of you give me very little hope for us all and make me not want to be a part of this much anymore.

F the world, F us all... but don't use tape and note to try to accomplish what it never will.

Ummm.....

Least we know how to get paint off ladies now..... ;D
