K2 Gas cap disassembly - Is it possible?
« on: August 06, 2011, 07:47:49 AM »
Anyone know if its possible to disassemble the inside of a 750 K2 gas cap.

Im having venting issues only when on reserve.

Basically there is Kreem inside of there from when I cleaned out the old liner. Ive been able to stick a small needle in there and get some #$%* out, but would like to take the whole thing apart and throughly clean it.

I take my 750K caps apart the same way forum member: Mattcb350F shows in this thread.

So I finally got around to taking apart the gas cap.  Been just putting up with a bike that runs lean and sputters when on reserve. Normal gas flow was fine.

Took it apart, MAN there was a ton of old Kreeme liner in there.  Probably got in there when I was shaking the tank around with acetone removing the old liner.

Should run like new now!

Should any K1 riders need to do this, there's a single Phillips head screw instead of the spring clips that holds the inner fuel cap assembly in place.  I also had to re-drill the vent hole after I had the fuel tank sealed when I replaced the fuel filler cap seal.
