Brake Pedal Height Adjustment
« on: August 22, 2005, 03:19:38 PM »
Been riding my recently resurrected K0 for some time now. When last ridden 20+ years ago, I noticed the brake pedal stopped, if you will, up against the bottom of the right foot peg arm. During my resurrection work, I changed the position of the brake pedal on the splined shaft so it would not contact the peg arm. Trouble is, now the pedal is too low relative to the foot peg for my taste. I just spent about a half hour trying to alter it so it would neither stop against the foot peg or be too low. No dice. Even if I move the pedal one crummy spline tooth it is either too low or hits the foot peg arm. Is everyone else's experience the same? I don't want to have to point my boot toe down to use the thing, but it seems odd it should bang against the foot peg. Obviously always been that way as there is a warn spot on the pedal where it has repeatedly contacted.

Apparently Honda didn't like it either and fixed it on the K2 model: (This is in the document I sent you, but I wanted to share it with everyone on the board)

Dan,

So the short version is that prior to the K2 the foot peg arm is the brake lever stopper if it's set to the proper angle?

Probably... I'd have to see if my shop manual says anything about it. Since I have a K3, I never really gave much thought to how it was setup on the earlier bikes. :-\

My K0 is the same. I have seen a few K0's with a bracket bolted to the foot rest bolt which has a thread and 6mm bolt for adjustment

Guess changes aren't always for the better. I returned the pedal to the original position where it stops against the foot peg arm. Took it for a fair ride today (weather has been great this week so far). The pedal is now at a much better angle in relation to toe...just like it was 20+ years ago, ha, ha.
