this tip is fairly well known but i run into a lot of people that aren't familiar with it. sometimes it is necessary to weld a screw or a bolt to something. most bolts come with some type of coating on them. not only will u get a poor weld, but those fumes that come off a coated bolt are very poisonous to inhale. to solve both of these problems, simply soak the hardware in muratic acid for about 15 minutes, rinse with clean water, and dry. the coating will be gone and u are now ready to weld away. hope this helps someone.
