Ready to ride!!! NELSON BC!!! KOOTS
« on: May 31, 2008, 11:10:22 AM »
Hey there.....My name is Eugene from the Kooteneys and i just bought a Honda 1975 honda cb 550 four and she is a beaut!!!! I havn't had much time to ride her because i baught her at the end of summer and have been travelling and living gypsy but now i am in Nelson BC and am stoked to ride the deep valleys. I Know very little about the maintanence of the bike and would love a gure to supervise me while i learn. It;s at the local shop to repair my fork seals and adjust my tappets? I wish  could do it all myself but the manual that i have is old and a #$%* to follow......if anyone has a lead for me on how slowly learn how to adjust and replace the basics let me know..the mechanic won;t let me watch him i'm sure. I want the confidence to be able to cruise without the worry of getting stranded. I need an old timer to teach me the ropes. ???

Freddy

Welcome to the thin air.  I'm over in Kimberley and we often ride through the area.  Mainly from Creston up the lake, over the lake via the ferry and back home thru Salmo.
In fact my buddies are doing that same route today.
As far as the maintenance is concerned, get a manual and a few metric tools and your half ways there.  Not too much goes wrong with these bikes.
If you need parts, there is a good wrecking yard at to Fruitvale and a decent Honda dealer at Montrose.
Get the bike all tuned up and shiney for the Riondel Classic Bike Revival this summer.

Take care

Greg

Nelson WhhhooOO HOOOooooo.

went to Tradeschool there in 85/86..

Had my 73 750 there and another rider from here had a cb 750 while there as well..

If you want to learn to work on them , start reading up, get a manual, pick up a few GOOD tools..

welcome aboard
